Add the 2023 commencement app for easy access to commencement weekend details.

The commencement app allows all graduation candidates and their families to get immediate access to commencement related information in real-time. Access information on ceremony locations, campus shuttle service, campus maps, and more while you are on the move.  

File Your Diploma Request

If you haven’t done so already, complete and file your diploma request form online ASAP.

All graduation candidates who plan to complete their degree requirements by August 2023 and plan to participate in the May 2023 celebrations, must file a diploma request on MySlice.

Make sure to register and indicate your intent to participate in the 2023 Commencement ceremony.

Reminder: Registration is for graduation candidates only. Individual family members do not need to register. Registration information will be used to estimate total attendance for planning purposes. Registration is not required for participation in school and college convocations.

Undergraduate Cap and Gown Distribution
The distribution of undergraduate caps, gowns and tassels begins at the Campus Store in Schine Student Center and continues throughout Commencement week.

Commencement Weekend Ceremonies
The full schedule of school and college convocations, ceremonies and receptions is available on the Commencement site.

School and college convocations and commencement will also be livestreamed. Visit commmencement.syracuse.edu during May 11 – May 14, 2022 to view these ceremonies online.

*Syracuse University adheres to New York State/Onondaga County public health guidelines and protocols that could impact admission requirements or capacities for large gatherings. The 2023 graduation candidates will be notified, via email, of any such changes as soon as they are confirmed. * 

Caps, Gowns and Tassels

The Campus Store is the cap, gown and tassel resource center. 

All candidates who are eligible to participate in Commencement or Convocations must visit the campus store in Schine Student Center to secure a cap, gown and tassel prior to commencement weekend. This includes December 2022, May 2023 and August 2023 graduation candidates and students who petitioned their school or college to participate in commencement weekend ceremonies. 

Beginning May 1, undergraduate graduation candidates can visit the Campus Store in Schine Student Center during store hours to secure a cap, gown and tassel to participate in commencement or convocations. 

Master’s and Doctoral caps and gowns are available now. Use the link below to secure a master’s or doctoral cap and gown
in-store or online. 

Commencement Guest Housing

If your family and friends are still looking for a place to stay during commencement weekend, overnight accommodations are available in North Campus residence halls for the families of Syracuse University’s 2022 graduation candidates.

Check-in:  Friday, May 12 at 10:00am
Check out: Sunday, May 14 at 5:00pm

Cost: $224 for 2-night package
