Syracuse University Hosts Alumni and Parent Panel Discussions Across Asia

Syracuse University held a series of alumni and current parent panel discussions across Asia for prospective high school students and their families. The panelists shared their personal stories and advice, giving attendees a deeper understanding of what it’s like to be part of the Syracuse community. The events were held in Taipei, hosted by Brian Wang; in Tokyo, hosted by Joe Iannace; and in Manila, hosted by Franco Varona. 

A Bangladeshi photographer and a student at the Newhouse School, Md. Zobayer Hossain Joati, has won a 2025 World Report Award, one of Europe’s most respected photojournalism competitions. Joati earned first prize in the Student Award category. 

Professor Paulo Shakarian will present at the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence Conference at the Singapore conference in January 2026 to address metacognitive artificial intelligence .

From stepping onto campus for the first time to immersing herself in hands-on research, mentorship roles, and professional development, Pooja Shah’s experience at Syracuse University has been one of growth, exploration, and impact.

Professor Cliff Davidson was recognized by the Hyo Jeong International Foundation for Environmental Peace and Universal Peace Federation for his outstanding leadership, valuable contributions and investment in environmental engineering and education. Davidson was invited to speak at the Universal Peace Federation’s World Summit 2025 held in Seoul, Korea.
