Office of Research Spring Social

The Office of Research will host a Spring Social on Friday, March 22, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. in the lobby of Lyman Hall. Colleagues are invited to take a break and enjoy light hors d’oeuvres and a selection of beer, wine and soft drinks. 

 

Call for Submissions: Faculty Creative Activities and Research Internal Grants Program

The Office of Research is now accepting submissions for the Spring Faculty Creative Activities and Research (FCAR) Internal Grants Program. The program provides up to $5,000 for one-year projects in order to support new research and creative endeavors and increase high-quality scholarly output by faculty.

Call for Submissions: Travel Subsidy Program – Spring 2024 National Science Foundation Grants Conference

The Office of Research will offer financial support for up to 10 faculty members to attend the upcoming Spring 2024 National Science Foundation (NSF) Grants Conference, June 3-5, in Philadelphia, PA. Up to $2,000 per applicant will be provided toward travel costs.

Interested in Fulbright Programs? Join us for Fulbright Day

The Office of Research Development and the Center for Fellowship and Scholarship Advising will host Fulbright Day on Wednesday, March 20, 3-4:30 p.m., in the Shaffer Art Building Atrium. This event will introduce the campus community to the range of opportunities funded through Fulbright, a U.S. government international academic exchange program that partners with more than 160 countries. Attendees can learn about Fulbright opportunities available to faculty, students, alumni and staff, and will hear from campus administrators and program alumni about the application process and Fulbright experience.

National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Application-Writing Workshop

Art Museum 2024-25 Faculty Fellows Program
The Art Museum Faculty Fellows Program supports innovative curriculum development and the fuller integration of the museum’s collection in university instruction. Each Faculty Fellow will receive a $5,000 stipend or research subsidy, a hands-on introduction to the collection by museum staff and ongoing curricular support.

Lender Center for Social Justice Faculty Fellow
Applications are now being accepted for the position of 2024-26 Lender Center for Social Justice Faculty Fellow. This fellowship supports a two-year research agenda to critically and creatively explore contemporary social issues, develop innovative approaches to these problems and implement useful and sustainable initiatives.

May 2024 National Science Foundation (NSF) Partnerships for Innovation (PFI)-Research Partnerships – Letter of Intent

This program offers researchers funded by the NSF the opportunity to perform translational research and technology development, catalyze partnerships and accelerate the transition of discoveries from the laboratory to the marketplace for societal benefit.

2023 National Institute of Food and Agriculture Equipment Grants Program (EGP) – Letter of Intent

The EGP serves to increase access to shared-use special purpose equipment/instruments for fundamental and applied research for use in the food and agricultural sciences programs.

National Institutes of Health (NIH) Collaborative Program Grant for Multidisciplinary Teams (RM1) – May 2024 Deadline – Letter of Intent

This program supports highly integrated research teams of three to six PDs/PIs to address ambitious and challenging research questions important for the mission of the National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) that are beyond the scope of one or two investigators.

Funding Opportunities

NEH Fellowships
Fellowships provide recipients time to conduct research or to produce books, monographs, peer-reviewed articles, e-books, digital materials, translations with annotations or a critical apparatus or critical editions resulting from previous research. NEH will provide up to $5,000/month for six to twelve months.
Deadline: Wednesday, April 10

NSF Non-Academic Research Internships for Graduate Students (INTERN) Supplemental Funding Opportunity
The PI/co-PI of an active NSF award may request supplemental funding for one or more graduate students to gain knowledge, skills and experiences that will augment their preparation for a successful long-term career through an internship in a non-academic setting.
NOTE: Intellectual Property agreements between the grad student employer and Syracuse University are required, and adequate lead time is needed to negotiate the agreements. Department of Defense Multidisciplinary Research Program of the University Research Initiative (MURI)
The MURI program supports basic research in science and engineering. Proposals from a team of university investigators are expected when the necessary expertise in addressing the multiple facets of the topics may reside in different universities. This year 26 topics are detailed in the solicitation.
