| Lender Center for Social Justice Opportunities The Lender Center for Social Justice, with funding from the MetLife Foundation and in collaboration with faculty in the Social Differences, Social Justice Research Cluster, is offering grants for new or continuing projects to full-time tenured or tenure-track faculty members with compelling projects that address the racial wealth gap in the United States. A Q&A session will be held on March 27. Deadline: April 3 Applications are now being accepted for the position of 2023-25 Lender Center for Social Justice Faculty Fellow. NEW! 2023 NIH Maximizing Access to Research Careers (MARC) (T34) – Letter of Intent Internal Proposal Due Date: March 20 Number of Internal Nominees: 1 This National Institutes of Health (NIH) program is to develop a diverse pool of undergraduates who complete their baccalaureate degree, and transition into and complete biomedical, research-focused higher degree programs. NEW! 2023 NIH Team-Based Design in Biomedical Engineering Education (R25) – Letter of Intent Internal Proposal Due Date: March 20 Number of Internal Nominees: 1 The overarching goal of this program is to support educational activities that complement and/or enhance the training of a workforce to meet the nation’s biomedical, behavioral and clinical research needs. This opportunity will support creative educational activities with a primary focus on courses for skills development. | Funding Opportunities The Office of Research has updated its Sponsored Funding Opportunities webpage with federal, state and foundation funding opportunities relevant to campus in a variety of topic areas. Below are the highlighted opportunities: Agriculture and Food Research Initiative Competitive Grants Program Foundational and Applied Science Program Deadline: varies by topic area The program supports grants in six priority areas to advance knowledge in both fundamental and applied sciences important to agriculture: plant health and production and plant products; animal health and production and animal products; food safety, nutrition and health; bioenergy, natural resources and environment; agriculture systems and technology; and agriculture economics and rural communities. National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Fellowships Deadline: April 12 NEH Fellowships are competitive awards granted to individual scholars pursuing projects that embody exceptional research, rigorous analysis and clear writing. Applications must clearly articulate a project’s value to humanities scholars, general audiences or both. Department of Defense (DOD) Multidisciplinary Research Program of the University Research Initiative (MURI) White Paper Deadline: May 19 The MURI program supports basic research in science and engineering at U.S. universities. Example topics for this year include: Interventions in Large and Complex Networks; Theory and Algorithms for Learning and Decision-Making in Multi-Agent Systems; and Synchronization in Natural and Engineered Systems. | | | Call for Abstracts: Military Health System Research Symposium The Office of Government Relations and the Office of Research recently hosted an information session about the Military Health System Research Symposium (MHSRS). MHSRS is the best location to learn about DOD medical research priorities and to network with DOD program officers. For faculty whose MHSRS abstracts are accepted, the Office of Research is able to provide limited travel funds to attend the symposium this year. The abstract deadline has been extended to March 3. | | | | | |
