Ze Zeng ’23 is a Whitman student from China studying finance, supply chain and business analytics. Meet Xiaoman (Ava) Hu ’23, Recipient of the Syracuse University Greater China Alumni Endowed Scholarship

Xiamoen (Ava) Hu is a Broadcast Digital Journalism major at the Syracuse University’s Newhouse School of Communications. She is one of the two recipients of the Great China Alumni Endowed Scholarship for the academic year 2021-22. 

Newhouse Professor Wins Facebook Reality Labs Research Grant

Makana Chock, David J. Levidow Professor of Communications in the Newhouse School, has been awarded a $75,000 research grant to explore the impacts of augmented and virtual reality on bystander privacy in two countries with disparate cultural norms—the U.S. and South Korea. Chock will work with a Newhouse doctoral student from Korea, Se Jung Kim.

Whitman Alumna Pursues Ph.D. to Research on the Intersection of Psychology and Female Entrepreneurship

Mi Hoang Tran ’19, an alumna from Vietnam, discovered her interest in entrepreneurship after participating in the Orange Tank Pitch Competition and the Panasci Business Plan Competition while pursuing her MBA at the Whitman School. That interest led her to remain at Whitman to pursue her doctorate focuses on the impact of psychological vulnerabilities and gender on the well-being of entrepreneurs.
