Syracuse Students Explore Asian American Experiences through Architecture and Art

A group of Syracuse students earned a grant from the SOURCE to explore the concepts of identity, the Asian diaspora, place, space and design. They teamed up with members of the NOMAS, to present a series of events in celebration of Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month.

Yvonne Chen-Yih Kuo, a student from Taiwan, is a University Scholar and psychology and forensic science major in the College of Arts and Sciences. Kuo encouraged the Class of 2024 to use their degrees to impact society and to become the generation that pushes time forward.

Hung Phung G’25 Dreams of Leading Libraries in Vietnam

Hung Phung is originally from Hanoi, and is studying library and information science at Syracuse as a Fulbright scholar. Since 2013, he has been working as a librarian but decided in 2021 to study in the U.S. Phung’s dream is to own a large building in Vietnam, turn it into a library and fill it with books.

Saraswati Dhakal G’24 Embraces Role as Mental Health Counselor and Advocate

Saraswati Dhakal G’24 worked as a transplant coordinator and nurse in Nepal and saw firsthand the psychological impact it can have on a family watching a loved one go through their health battle. Dhakal plans to use her master’s degree in clinical mental health to create a safe, accessible environment for anyone seeking help with their mental health.
