Meet Mina Gurbuz ’23, Recipient of the Syracuse University MENAT Regional Council Scholarship Fund

Mina Gurbuz was born and raised in Turkey. She has dual degrees in Art History and Film at Syracuse University. Mina is one of the first two recipients of the MENAT Regional Council Scholarship Fund for the academic year 2022-23. Alumni and parents are invited to support to reward academic achievement and provide need-based financial assistance to students from the MENAT. Mosab Abu Toha G’23, a creative writing Master of Fine Arts Student in the College of Arts and Sciences at Syracuse University, used his memories of conflict in Palestine to pen an award-winning book of poetry. 

Colleagues and friends Imam Amir Duric and Rabbi Ethan Bair strengthened their chaplaincies through bringing students into their circle of friendship. The two religious leaders engaged their respective students and built understanding around their distinctive religions. 

Rahul Dasgupta is a Whitman alumnus at Syracuse University. He is now an entrepreneur, educationist, investor turned philanthropist. He intends to expand his philanthropic work into the Middle East and Africa with a mission to impact at least 75,000 lives by 2025.
