| Office of Research Social The Office of Research will host a social on Friday, Sept. 19, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. in Lyman Hall, first floor lobby. Colleagues working on research and creative activities are invited to take a break and enjoy light hors d’oeuvres and a selection of beer, wine and soft drinks. | | | | | |

| Upcoming Research Program 2025-26 National Institutes of Health (NIH) R-Series Applicant Cohort Applications are currently being accepted for the NIH R-Series Applicant Cohort, hosted by the Office of Research Development (ORD). This grant development and writing series is designed for faculty who have not yet applied for an NIH R-series grant, or who have applied and have had their applications triaged without scoring. Members of the cohort will receive: - access to The Bouvier Grant Group’s training materials
- mentoring from an internal faculty member with successful NIH grant experience
- regular cohort meetings facilitated by ORD staff to assist in writing and reviewing draft grant applications.

| Upcoming Research Deadlines Humanities Center Faculty Fellowships Full-time tenure-line faculty from humanities departments and programs in the College of Arts and Sciences and the Maxwell School are eligible to apply for this one-semester fellowship to complete a research or creative project. Deadline: Friday, Oct. 17 Open Source Software (OSS) Development Program Sponsored by the Open Source Program Office, this program seeks to match researchers with student software engineers for paid part-time fellowships for the development of research software that would benefit the broader University and research communities. Spring/Summer Deadline: Monday, Dec. 1 New York Tech Hub Resources & Innovation Vouchers for Enterprises (NY THRIVE) Program The New York Semiconductor Manufacturing and Research Technology Innovation Corridor (NY SMART I-Corridor Tech Hub) has created an innovation voucher program—NY THRIVE—to support the costs of using University physical and intellectual assets for businesses commercializing new technologies. | Office of Research Updates New Federal Requirements for Research Security Training Federal agencies are now requiring investigators to complete research security training before a proposal is submitted. The Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) will begin enforcing the research security training requirement for all federal proposals submitted on or after Wednesday, Oct. 1. All researchers in senior/key personnel roles on federally funded or proposed projects should complete this one-hour training by Wednesday, Oct. 1. Refer to the Research Security Training webpage for more information and access. Proposal Approval Form Replaced IRR Form As of Aug. 15, the new Proposal Approval Form (PAF) has replaced the IRR form. As you get familiar with the new form, please review the Form Guidelines and FAQs [PDF]. OSP FY26 Budget Template OSP has released the updated Budget Template for FY26 with appropriate fringe rates. The new FY26 template should be used for all proposals going forward. | | | | | |

| Federal Government Updates Developments related to federal government grants and contracts are being updated on our SharePoint page. Information is available about executive orders and regulatory guidance, FAQs and guidance from individual agencies. NSF Broader Impacts and Compliance with Executive Orders If you are contacted by a federal agency program officer to ensure that your current and/or pending awards are compliant with current policy, please consult with OSP research administrators for guidance before responding. Guidance on how to be responsive in proposals to NSF new guidance can be found on our SharePoint page. NIH Restrictions on Foreign Collaborators The NIH has intensified scrutiny of international research partnerships, particularly in regard to foreign talent recruitment programs, undisclosed financial support and data/material sharing with foreign entities. | Internal Funding Opportunities Good to Great Grant (G2G) Program This program supports faculty efforts to resubmit or prepare revised proposal submissions to NIH, NSF or other funders for proposals that previously scored favorably but were unfunded. Application deadlines will occur on a quarterly basis. Deadline: Wednesday, Oct. 15 Writing and Publishing “WRAP” Funding This internal grant opportunity is designed to support faculty in “wrapping up” their single-authored or co-authored book projects and will help offset costs associated with the final stages of publication/production, when a book will soon appear in print or on digital platforms. Deadline: Wednesday, Oct. 15 Team Building for Large, Collaborative Grants These awards, intended for researchers with a track record of securing sponsored funding, aim to facilitate the development of collaborative research teams and support planning activities that enable the submission of a competitive research proposal to an external sponsor. Deadline: Rolling Faculty Bridge Funding Program The purpose of this program is to allow a minimal level of activity while a proven principal investigator awaits expected federal funding, e.g., to prevent loss of key postdoctoral researchers, research faculty/staff or senior graduate students or loss of research materials in the interim period. | External Funding Opportunities American Council of Learned Societies (ACLS) Fellowship Program This program supports outstanding scholarship in the humanities and interpretive social sciences. ACLS invites applications from scholars pursuing research on topics grounded in any time period, world region or humanistic methodology. Deadline: Thursday, Sept. 25 American Philosophical Society Franklin Research Grant This program is designed to help meet the costs of travel to libraries and archives for research purposes or the purchase of microfilm, photocopies or equivalent research materials. Deadline: Wednesday, Oct. 1 NSF Smart Health and Biomedical Research in the Era of Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Data Science This program supports high-risk, high-reward interdisciplinary research that combines computing, engineering, data science and behavioral and cognitive sciences to tackle biomedical and public health challenges and drive transformative health innovations. Deadline: Friday, Oct. 3 NIH Extramural Loan Repayment Program This program can help relieve escalating costs of advanced education and training in medicine and clinical specialties by repaying up to $50,000 annually of a researcher’s qualified educational debt in return for a commitment to engage in NIH mission-relevant research. Deadline: Thursday, Nov. 20 NSF STEM K-12 This program supports fundamental, applied and translational research that advances STEM teaching and learning and improves understanding of education across the human lifespan and a range of formal and informal settings.
