News for WAER Listeners

On the behalf of all of us at WAER, I’d like to thank you for your continued support of our mission. Whether you tune in for your favorite NPR programs, music from Top of the World and Common Threads, or the latest in local news coverage, you make our work possible.

This year WAER celebrates 75 years of broadcasting in Central New York! From our beginnings as a student-run radio station on the Syracuse University campus, to where we are today, a listener-supported public media organization, our resolve remains ever the same. To Enlighten, Enrich and Entertain while serving our community with exceptional public radio.

In the days and weeks ahead we’ll keep you informed on our plans to celebrate WAER’s 75th anniversary and, during our upcoming Spring Membership Drive (March 19-25), we’ll share how your gift makes the content you value possible.

City Limits: A Working Dilemma – NEW EPISODE
When the pandemic struck the United States in 2020, many of us were forced to adjust the way we work. Some of us were forced to work remotely, while others were simply told not to come to work. This seismic shift to our everyday routines also provided an opportunity to examine work under a larger microscope. In the next iteration of City Limits, we will look at the dilemma surrounding work in Central New York. To learn more visit our City Limits website.

Syracuse Speaks: Transportation and Mobility
The way people get around in Central New York will certainly be changing in the coming years. Of course, the community grid project to replace a portion of I-81 is a big part of that. Visit our Syracuse Speaks page.

Pop Life Podcast: The Delicate Balance of Comedy
Kendall Phillips chats with Dr. Danielle Fuentes Morgan, Professor at Santa Clara University. They discuss Dr. Morgan’s new book Laughing to Keep from Dying, our personal relationship with popular comedians, and how we view Bill Cosby on 2022.
