Welcome to the Whitman Alumni Family! Dear Whitman Class of 2022, Congratulations! It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Syracuse University Martin J. Whitman School of Management alumni family—a truly special group of which you are now a part! As you transition from student to alum, I would like to share some information to help you stay informed on all things Orange and keep you connected to your alma mater and fellow alumni. The University has a wonderful online resource for alumni, Cusecommunity.syr.edu. I’d like to point out a few features of the site: · Update My Info is where you can update your contact information (mailing, email) as well as personal details (company, employer, etc.). It is important that you let us know where you live and how best to reach you. If we’re hosting an event in your new town but your parents’ or campus address is still on your alumni record, you won’t be part of our email invite distribution. So please update your details to be sure you don’t miss email and print communications from Whitman and SU. · Advance Your Career provides information about alumni career resources including webinars, career coaching services and the #HireOrange job posting platform (both to look for jobs and to post openings at your firm). You will need to set up an alumni account to access #HireOrange. This process requires an alumni ID which can be obtained by contacting the Syracuse University Office of Alumni Engagement at sualumni@syr.edu. Please provide your full legal name (as enrolled), graduation year, degree/school information and current address in the email to request your alumni ID. · Attend An Event is where you will find events hosted by the University, its schools and colleges (including Whitman), Athletics and alumni groups. · Join A Club provides a listing of official SU alumni groups across the globe. These groups offer opportunities for professional development as well as social events held both virtually and in-person. Many of the clubs have boards and/or committees which offer a great way to get more involved. · Connect With ’Cuse contains a variety of information including notable alumni, special interest groups and Generation Orange, an organization for alumni like you who have graduated within the past 10 years. I encourage you to spend a little time exploring all of the information and opportunities on CuseCommunity.syr.edu. There are many other ways to keep connected to Whitman. Be sure to join our LinkedIn Group and follow the Syracuse University Martin J. Whitman School of Management LinkedIn page as well as our social media channels on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. You can also visit Whitman.syr.edu for the latest news and announcements as well as links to magazines and newsletters. Our Whitman Voices site is a great place to find news and read student, alumni and faculty features as well as to access podcasts and webinars. Following Syracuse University on LinkedIn and social media is another great way to stay informed. In addition to updating your alumni record, we welcome and appreciate you sharing news for our Class Notes section in our monthly newsletter and biannual magazine. You can submit your new job, promotion, marriage, family addition, etc. via our online form. When you’re ready to begin writing your own alumni engagement story, please let me know. Throughout your time as a Whitman student, you likely benefited from the engagement of alumni through career programming, networking events, etc. Now that you have graduated, you can consider ways you might like to give back through student engagement (e.g. mentorship) and keeping our students and new graduates in mind for openings in your firm. Supporting Whitman experiential learning and other programs through financial gifts is another important way that alumni help students. I hope that you will keep in touch to share about your life after commencement and reach out if you make plans to visit campus. We would love to welcome you back to Whitman! Again, congratulations, and best wishes on this exciting new chapter! Warm Regards, Alison Kessler, Director of Alumni Engagement ahkessle@syr.edu 315-440-4622 |
